AGM Minutes

2015 AGM 14th March 2015:

Committee Apologies – Andy Joyce & Laura Febery

Committee Attendees – Nick Watt, Venecia Mankarious, Marco Amat and Paul Riste

Chairman’s report:

  • Membership 2014: 3 members cancelled and 27 new members which is great news. New membership is coming from Frostbite series, training membership and social paddling
  • £1000 revenue taken in last year due to training membership and approx £700 from Frostbite Series
  • Club champions for the second year running and let’s hope we make it a third this year
  • Bournemouth Outrigger Canoe Club start in 2014 which is a entirely separate entity to BaySUP but work closely together in terms of building these paddle sports locally. Go to for more information

Treasurers report for 2014:

  • Club has assets worth approx £12,000 due to equipment purchases (from Sport England funding) such as boards and jet ski and general equipment for racing
  • Club costs are around £1400 a year which is mainly the jet ski aswell as club liability insurance. Race event costs may increase this year to ensure the jet ski costs are covered (this will prevent a membership fee increase).
  • BCU insurance costs us approx £400 a year

Sports Development / Funding:

  • Funding in 2014 ceased as the streams had changed within Sport England meaning no funding was available for SUP. This may be changing in 2015 and we’ll keep everyone posted

Club Activities 2015:

  • Frostbite stage 6 final, 28th March at Hengistbury Head Outdoor Education center
  • UK SUP Clubs race, Saturday 6th June at Surf Steps Surf School
  • Social paddles starting Thursday 7th April and running every Thursday through to end of August. Details here and Nick Watt who will be running the paddles will post up details of where the paddle is to be held on the Social facebook page
  • Training paddles will be purely adhoc and not run as an organised club activity. Most of the guys who regularly train will be doing so on a Wednesday night. More information here and members interact about training on the facebook training page
  • Club trips. 2 club trips this year. One will be Adhoc probably picking a weekend to head west for some waves and the other will be camping in north Devon in late September which will be a club organised activity. Details TBD

Committee 2015:

  • Current committee resigned and were voted back in apart from Chairman – Nick Watt.
  • Ryan James was voted in as Chairman
  • Graham Coleback and Will Littleboy were voted in as new committee members

  • Question raised about what the club insurance covers members. Club insurance only covers club arranged activities such as social paddles each week and races etc. Any paddles where members arrange to meet up adhoc, these are not covered on the club insurance and we recommend members obtain their own personal liability through Canoe England
